Dean Joseph Nugent

Dean Joseph Nugent Jr., 64, of Shippenville passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at the Clarion Hospital following a brief illness.  Born June 15, 1951, in Beaver Township, Joe was the son of Dean and Gertrude Nugent.  On June 8, 2002, Joe married Mary Dupree who survives.  Joe was of Protestant faith.  Joe enjoyed spending time with his family and grandkids, and watching NASCAR especially #3 Dale Earnhardt.  Joe worked for local coal companies and more recently for Burns & Burns Associates Inc.  Along with his wife Joe is survived by two daughters Lori (Andy) Rawson of Strattanville and Elizabeth Nugent of Knox, a son Dean “DJ” Nugent III of Brookville and his step children Steve Ruth, Dick Morris, Gage (Michelle) Dupree of NC, Corey (Char) Dupree of Oil City and Ray (Katie) Dupree of Kane.  Also surviving are two brothers Hartford (Judy) Hartzell of Knox and Jay Nugent of Knox and five sisters Carolyn (Wendell) Porter, Judy (Clem) Pfendler, Kay (Ed) Best all of Knox, Wanda (Chuck) McCleary of Valley City, OH and Patti (Tom) Cyphert of Tionesta and numerous nieces and nephews.  Along with his parents Joe was preceded in death by his sister Donna McHenry, a brother David Hartzell and step son Terry Morris, two nephews Hartford “Jason” Hartzell and Cory Hartzell and a bother in law Ray McHenry.  Per Joe’s request there will be no visitation.  A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Knox United Methodist Church, 628 W Railroad St, Knox, with Pastor Dave Coul officiating.  In lieu of flowers the family request memorials are made to the Knox United Methodist Church Building Fund, PO Box 307, Knox, PA 16232 or the Cancer Center at Clarion Hospital 150 Doctors Ln # 1, Clarion, PA 16214.  To view and share photos or leave an online condolence please visit our website at www.mcentire-weaverfuneralhome.com.
