George Wise Sr. Obituary

George G. Wise Sr., 88, of Shippenville passed away Tuesday February 6, 2018 at his son’s home following a brief illness.

Born December 11, 1929 in Oil City, George was the son of the late George and Hannah Clark Wise.

George served in the Army during the Korean War. 

George was married to Daisy Knight who preceded him in death in 2003.

He drove truck for John Hartle Trucking and Zucks Trucking.

George was a member of the American Legion Post 720 and the Clarion County Rod and Gun.  He was an avid gardener and enjoyed watching deer in the back yard, fishing at Kahle Lake and on the Clarion River and walking his dog Ozzie out the driveway.

George is survived by his two daughters Robin (Greg) Shreckengost of Omaha, AR, and Jane (Richard Pratt) Wise of Delaware, two sons George (Diana) Wise Jr. of Rocky Grove and Jack Wise of Clarion, ten grandchildren Adam Wise of Franklin, Shawn Wise of Franklin, Joseph (Sadie) Wise Jr. of Bradford, Rebecca Wise of Clarion, Austin Wise of Clarion, Jessica (Clint) Mattern of Lamartine, Kayla Wise, Tuesday (Mike) Knight of Shippenville, Paige Wise of Shippenville and Nikki Pratt of Clayton, DE and nine great grandchildren.  Also surviving are three sisters Mary Brumbaugh of Tippery, Grace Carson of Seneca and Alice Knight of Ohio.

Along with his wife and parents George was preceded in death by his son Joseph Wise, two brothers Albert Wise and Richard Wise and a sister Joanne Dickey.

The family will receive friends from 10 to noon Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the McEntire-Weaver Funeral Home Inc., 504 East Penn St., Knox.  Funeral Services will be held at Noon Saturday in the funeral home with George’s nephew, Pastor Richard Wise officiating.  Interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Garden in Seneca.

The Knox American Legion Post 720 will perform full military honors.

In lieu flowers the family request memorial donations are made to Clarion Forest VNA Hospice, 271 Perkins Road, Clarion, PA 16214
