John A. Wolfgong, 76 of Shippenville passed away at his home surrounded by family on January 24, 2017 following an extended illness.

Born September 30, 1940 in Dubois, John was the son of William and Pearl Wolfgong.

Over the years John worked for various local coal companies and the Knox Glass Plant.

John enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting antiques, going to Eat n Park and spending time with his grandchildren.

On October 7, 1962 John married Carolyn Joanne Craig who he celebrated 54 years of marriage with.

Along with his wife John is survived by four sons John (Bonnie) Wolfgong of Knox, Jay (Becky) Wolfgong of Shippenville, James (Bobbie) Wolfgong of Shippenville and Jeff (Crystal) Wolfgong of Parker; six grandchildren Matthew Wolfgong of Knox, Halie Wolfgong of Knox, Sabrina Wolfgong of Shippenville, Chelsea Wolfgong of Shippenville, Samantha Wolfgong of Shippenville and Danielle Swisher of Knox and a brother Leon “Butch” Wolfgong.

John was preceded in death by his parents, three grandchildren Christopher Wolfgong, Carolyn Wolfgong and Jacob Swisher and a brother Chuck Wolfgong.

A private funeral service was held by the family.
