Marlys "Marty" Staab

Marlys “Marty” Staab, 84 of Shippenville passed away Thursday, May 12, 2016 at the Clarion Hospital following an extended illness.  Born June 17, 1931, on the family farm in Beaver Township, Marty was the daughter of Reuben Melvin Altman and Vira Leona Hook Altman.  In her earlier days she enjoyed square dancing, traveling, visiting out of state family members, and she loved watching the cooking and travel channel.  Marty married Walter J. Staab who preceded her in death on October 14, 1992.  Marty is survived by three sons Larry A. (Debbie) Myers of Rockland, Kenny L. (Jean) Myers of St. Petersburg, and Lonny G. (Shari) Myers of Spanaway, WA; seven grandchildren, Blake, Dirk (Julie), Mason (Amber), Jason (Brenda), Jennifer, Jessica, and Timothy; and seven great grandchildren, Paige, Madilyn, Brody, Jameson, Branson, Cora, and Tristan; and a special niece Sandi L (Robert) Hannold of Shippenville.  She is also survived by four Step sons, Wally G. (Gail) Staab of Fairview; David J. (Belinda) Staab of Marble; Kenneth R. (Hannah) Staab of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Gregory P. (Jackie) Staab of Eau Claire; two Step-daughters, Darlene J. (John) Christensen of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsn; Marsha M. (Sam) Barber of Knox; 18 Step grandchildren and 6 Step great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are two brothers; William Altman of Knox, Darl (Marie) Altman of Zanesville OH, five sisters; Dorothy Brosius of Shippenville, Christina Snyder of Shippenville, Lois Miller of Strattanville, Faye Rex of Shippenville, Delores (Bill) Krost of Thousand Oaks CA.  Along with her husband and parents Marty was preceded in death by three brothers Richard Altman, Lawrence Altman and Reuben Altman Jr.  The family will receive friends from 3 to 6 pm Sunday at the McEntire-Weaver Funeral Home Inc, 504 East Penn Ave, Knox and from 10 to 11 am Monday at the Mt. Joy United Methodist Church, 159 Mt. Joy rd, Knox.  Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the church with Pastor Doug Brink officiating.  Interment will follow at the Mt. Joy Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers the family request memorials are made to the Mt. Joy United Methodist Church, 159 Mt.
