Norman "Hoot" H. Kiser

Norman H. “Hoot” Kiser, 89, of Shippenville, passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2016, at his home.

Born December 9, 1926 in Greenville, PA, Norman was the son of William H. and Nancy Edith Dunbar Kiser.  He was the last surviving member of his family.

On July 20, 1949, Norman was married to Mary Alice Louise Kiser who preceded him in death on November 16, 2010.  At the time they had been married for 61 years.

Norman’s family moved to Merle Street, Clarion in 1929.  They lived there until his father bought the family homestead where he lived the rest of his life.

Norman joined the Army serving in the Korean Conflict.  While he was state side was stationed in Waco, Texas and NYC before receiving his honorable discharge.  After being discharged he held several truck driving jobs for local companies and then went to work for the Boilmakers which he retired from.

He was a well known race car driver in the Tri State area winning numerous trophies and championships.  He followed NASCAR and was an avid fan of Dale Earnhardt Sr.  He would take annual trips to the Michigan Speedway in his younger years.

Norman will be remembered for his love of music, story and local history.  He was able to tell great stories of local venue and past life experiences.  He was a good man and was known for his love of his family and being a great husband, father and grandfather.

Norman is survived by a daughter, Edith Lander and her husband, Leo, of Lucinda; two granddaughters Jamie Dyan Painter (Bearnard Martin) of Lexinton NC, and Jada Painter (Doug Moore) of Lucinda; a grandson Joshua Painter of Leeper; two great-granddaughters, Madison Guntrum-Painter and Mya Painter. He is also survived by his close nephew Harold “Bugs” Kiser and a great niece, Lisa (Butch) Rapp who helped keep his daily independence at home over the last few years.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Kiser was preceded in death by a sister Ruth Watson and five brothers Loyd, Raymond, Charles, David and Arnold.

At his request, there will be no visitation.

Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Interment will be in Pleasant Hills Cemetery in Shippenville.
