Melvin Ashbaugh Obituary

Melvin D. Ashbaugh, 77, of Knox passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at the Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born May 18, 1946, in Oil City, Melvin was the son of the late Milford and Minnie Ashbaugh.

Melvin went to Keystone High School. He worked for several companies including Kahle’s Coal Co. and Astro Manufacturing before his retirement.

On July 21, 1973, Melvin married Cathy Parson who survives.

Melvin loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  When he was able he enjoyed riding his 4-wheeler in the woods and watching the wildlife.  After having a stroke which limited his abilities he enjoyed going for car rides, sitting on the porch watching traffic and watching TV.

Along with his wife Melvin is survived by his three sons Kevin (Christine) Ashbaugh, Ryan (Bree O’Neil) Ashbaugh and John (Sarah) Ashbaugh which he was so very proud of and loved.  He is also survived by his six grandchildren who lit up his world and he loved dearly; Cadence Ashbaugh, Benton Ashbaugh, Dominic Ashbaugh, Daniel Ashbaugh, Maggie Ashbaugh and Reagan Ashbaugh.  Also surviving are Melvin’s sister Nancy (Robert) Watkins and numerous nieces and nephews.  The family would like to thank their wonderful neighbors Russ and Shelly Rennard who were always very help and depended on many times.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents Milford and Minnie, two sisters Yvonne and Joselyn and two brothers Cecil and Russel.

The family will received friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM on Wednesday, and 10 to 11 AM on Thursday at the McEntire-Weaver Funeral Home Inc, 504 East Penn Ave, Knox.  Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday in the funeral home with Pastor Ron Hunsberger officiating.  Interment will be held at the Phipps Cemetery in Elmo.
