Mary I. (Lewis) Rex

Mary I. Rex, 96, of Shippenville, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2019, surrounded by family at her home.

Born October 26, 1923, in Pine City, Mary was the daughter of the late Scott and Leona Lewis.

Mary graduated from Shippenville High School; she worked as a rural mail carrier and made many friends along her route.

Mary enjoyed gardening, going to casinos and traveling; she loved to quilt and won blue ribbons with her quilts.

On November 13, 1951, Mary married Ray E. Rex who survives.

Along with her husband Ray, Mary is survived by her children Darla (Richard) Nicklin of Franklin, L. Charles (Linda) Rex of Tionesta, Shiela Rex of Shippenville, Jeffery (Karen) Rex of Corpus Christy, TX, Jamie (Jamie) Rex of Venus and DeAnna Windh of Shippenville; nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. Also  surviving are Mary’s brothers and sisters Scott Lewis of Shippenville, Charles (Linda) Lewis of Kittaning, Dean (Mary Ann) Rex of Texas, Esther Lewis of Shippenville, Shawn Lewis of Shippenville and Otis Stover of Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and several brothers, sisters and their spouses Otis Lewis, Esther and Don Strotman, John Lewis, Jane Lewis, Mae Stover, Paul and Evalyn Rex, Frank and Isabelle Rex, Norman and Doris Rowan, Bill and Twila Fink and Gale and Mary Jane Rex.

Per Mary’s wishes there will be no services.
