Robert DeWyer Obituary

Robert Dale DeWyer, 86, of Knox, passed from this life on Friday, October 18, 2019, at the Shippenville Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center after a period of declining health he suffered from Lewybody Dementia.

Born July 17, 1933, in Bradford, Dale was the son of the late Frank E. and Mildred (Young) DeWyer.

Dale attended Sippenville High School and then Salem High School which he graduated from in 1951.  After the death of his father in 1950 Dale became the sole provider for his mother and sister.  He worked at the Knox Glass Reno Mold Shop from 1951 until its closing in 1986 at which point he went to work for R & S Metals until his retirement. Dale also served in the US Army from 1957 to 1959 and was based in Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

On December 8, 1954 Dale married the former Barbara Dale who he celebrated almost 65 years of marriage with.

Dale enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Phillies and Penn State Football which he held season tickets for many years.  He was very proud of his military service and most of all his family.  Dale spent many enjoyable years watching his grandsons play T-Ball, Little League, Sr. League, basketball, track and high school and college football.

He was a proud member of the Edenburg Lodge 550 and the Shippenville Methodist Church and loved to go for walks before his illness left him unable.

Along with his wife Dale is survived by his daughter Karen (Ed) Black of Knox and his grandsons Bradley (Jen) Black of Cato, NY, Adam (Allison) Black of Scott Depot, WV,  and Benjamin Black and his fiancé Jules of Aliquippa; a great granddaughter Lexi and another great grandchild due in November.  Also surviving is a niece Gina George of Grove City, OH.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son in 1962 and his sister Janet DeWyer Ward.
