Barbara Jane Dewyer, 91, of Knox, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the Clarion Hospital after a period of declining health.
Born December 8, 1932, in Morenci, MI, Barbara was the daughter of the late Roscoe and Ethel Dale. She graduated from Renova High School in 1951.
On December 8, 1954 Barb married Robert “Dale” Dewyer who she celebrated almost 65 years of marriage with before his passing on Oct. 18, 2019.
Barb and Dale enjoyed many years attending Penn State Football games as season ticket holders. Together they spent many enjoyable years watching their grandsons play t-ball, little league, senior league, basketball, track and high school and college football. She was a long time member of the Shippenville United Methodist Church.
Barbara is survived by her daughter and son in law Karen and Ed Black of Knox; her three grandsons Bradley (Jen) Black and their daughters Avery and Paige of Cato, NY, Adam (Allison) Black and their children Lexi and Robert Dale of Scott Depot, WV, and Benjamin (Jules) Black and their daughter Isabella of Aliquippa. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews
Along with her husband and parents Barbara was preceded in death by an infant son in 1962 and her three sisters Zella Sallows, Ilene Farquhar and Elizabeth Barron all of Michigan..
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 pm on Monday, September 2nd and 10 to 11 am Tuesday, September 3rd at the McEntire-Weaver Funeral Home Inc., 504 East Penn St., Knox. Funeral Services will be held at 11 am Tuesday in the funeral home with Pastor Steve Ketner of the Shippenville United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at the Perry Chapel Cemetery in Shippenville.
