Betty Jo (Mays) McMillen

Betty Jo McMillen, 91, of Knox, passed away at her home surrounded by family on Wednesday, December 25, 2024.

Born November 28, 1933, Betty Jo was the daughter of the late Gerald and Hilda Klingler Mays.

Betty Jo graduated from White Memorial High School in Knox.  She worked at Weaver’s Jewelry Store and was known as the “Lunch Lady” when she worked in the cafeteria at Keystone High School.

On March 30, 1951, Betty Jo married Richard McMillen who preceded her in death in 2020.

Betty Jo was an active member at the Knox United Methodist Church.  She loved spending time with her family and sitting on her swing with family and guests.  She enjoyed cooking her wonderful pies, gardening and taking care of her rose bushes, and knitting, she made baby blankets for all of her “Grands”

Betty Jo is survived by her children Ginny Ellen (Paul) Hansen of Cape Coral, FL, Doug (Paula) McMillen of Knox, Amy (Dennis) Newquist of Lebanon and Jill (Raymond) Bennett of Elizabethtown; grandchildren Michelle Zamniak (David), Alysia (LaMorris) Hall, Melissa (Charles) Wesdock, Jason (Alicia) McMillen, Dayna (Ryan) Saltzgaber, Joe (Stasia) Reed and Luke (Holly) Reed.  Also surviving are fifteen great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents and a great granddaughter.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 pm on Sunday December 29, 2024 and from 10 to 11 am Monday at the McEntire-Weaver Funeral Home Inc, 504 East Penn Ave, Knox.  Funeral services will be held at 11 am Monday in the funeral home with Pastor Wade Barto of the Knox United Methodist Church officiating. 

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Clarion Forest VNA Hospice and Dr. Robert Luderer.
