Brenda Barden Wassink, 85, of Knox passed away at home on Friday, February 14, 2025 following an extended illness.
Born February 2, 1940, in Sherman, NY, Brenda was the daughter of the late Livingstone and Helen Brown Barden.
Brenda graduated from Sherman High School. She attended college at the University of Rochester and Bowling Green State University where she received her degree in Art Education. Brenda taught art at Panama Central School in New York, Fremont School System in Ohio and Clarion University, she also substitute taught in several Clarion County schools. For many years Brenda worked for Faller’s Furniture helping with interior design and furniture sales.
On June 18, 1960, Brenda married Hal Wassink who survives.
Brenda was in The Garden Club of Clarion County, she enjoyed trimming, weeding and taking care of the lawn.
Along with her husband, Brenda is survived by her sons Derek (Lori) Wassink of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Bret (Kelly) Wassink of Knox. Also surviving are two sisters Charlene Bray of Winston Salem, NC and Joan Barden of Westfield, NY.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Donald Barden.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday, February 20, at the McEntire-Weaver Funeral Home, 504 East Penn Ave. Knox. A memorial service will take place at 8 PM in the funeral home with Pastor John Friedlund officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations are made to an environmental organization of one's choice.
