Donald F. Porter, 91, of Knox, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at the Shippenville Healthcare and Rehab Center following an extended illness.
Born February 28, 1934, in Wellsboro, PA, Don was the son of the late George and Mary Porter.
Don served in the United States Marine Corps from 1954 to 1957. Don worked for the North Penn Gas Co, from 1958 to 1997 when he retired as a District Manager.
On July 4, 1954, Don married Faye Henry who preceded him in death in 2018.
As a Proud Marine, he enjoyed sharing his life with his loving wife of almost 67 years together, spending quality time with his family, traveling, camping, reading, loving and spoiling his cats, helping raise grandkids, watching great grandchildren who gave him the nickname Bogie, eating seafood, enjoying nature, amazing sense of humor and living his life his way, helping others are only a few among so many tremendous qualities he shared during his life, living by example and his belief in the good Lord.
Don is survived by his son Kevin Porter of Shippingport; grandchildren Amos (Kim) Rudolph of Knox, Jacob Rudolph of Middletown, VA, Brandi (Will) Smith of Roanoke VA, Megan Porter of Pittsburgh and Kirk (Laura) Porter of Knox; special family friend Billie Sue; great grandchildren Josephine Rudolph, Emmett Rudolph, Alexandra Rudolph, Emma Rudolph, Vicki Smith, Eliza Smith and Charlotte Porter. Also surviving are two siblings Harold Porter of Montrose and Phyllis Garrison of Hermitage.
Along with his wife and parents, Don was preceded in death by a sister Lois Fisher, father and mother in law Roscoe & Leora Henry, a son Donald F. Porter II, and a daughter Vicki Lynn Rudolph.
Per Don’s wishes there will be no viewing or services. Arrangements are being handled by the McEntire-Weaver Funeral Home, Inc., 504 E. Penn St., Knox.
