Donna Keller, 73, of Knox, passed peacefully away from cancer on July 15, 2023, surrounded by family and loved ones in her own home.
She was born Donna Marie Auguglia on May 10, 1950. She attended school and grew up in the Brookline area of Pittsburgh. Her parents, Jenny Coury and Alfonso Aguglia, preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her partner and husband of over thirty years, Robert “Bob” Keller, her son, John Weiss, and her brother, Anthony Aguglia.
Donna is survived by her children, Richard Weiss and Kalla Quigley and her boyfriend Steven Coleman, and her sister, Linda Conley, all of Knox. Also surviving are grandchildren Jenna Quigley of Knox, Kiersten Fisher of Pittsburgh, Tyler and Bri Walker of Tylersburg; nieces Kelli Conley and Tara Ploof; and nephews Bobby (also her godson) and Michael Conley and Charlie Ploof.
Despite moving from Pittsburgh to Knox in 1979, Donna never lost her Pittsburgh accent or her love for olives, spinach pies and “good bread” from the Strip District. She was working as a hairdresser when she met Bob and they began to build a house and a family together from the ground up. They established a greenhouse and a pottery studio and kept various livestock. Donna was an accomplished potter and gardener. She generously shared from her wealth of houseplants whenever someone admired them. She was also generous with her crochet talents -her afghans and doilies can be found throughout her circle of family and friends.
Donna considered herself blessed to be able to spend her last years at home in the company of Kalla and Jenna. She was a living example of reconciliation and family loyalty.
Donna touched countless lives through her work with victims of domestic violence and their families. She worked for over 22 years at SAFE (Stop Abuse for Everyone), retiring from the position of Executive Director in 2020.Her dedication to and passion for this mission have impacted and inspired many, many individuals. Her impact on the local community has been immense and mostly unrecognized, because Donna hated a fuss. She left those whose lives she touched in a better place. She will be sorely missed.
The family will receive visitors and celebrate Donna’s life at McEntire-Weaver Funeral Home in Knox on Thursday, July 20, from 5 to 7 pm. Pastor Mark Micklos will lead a memorial service at 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to SAFE, the Clarion Hospital Cancer Center or the Oil City Vineyard Church.
