Gayle Bell Obituary

Gayle N. Bell, 89, of Knox passed away at home on Saturday, December 6, 2025 following an extended illness.

Born on January 8, 1936, in Perryville, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Charles and Alice Texter.

Gayle graduated from White Memorial High School in Knox.  She worked at several places over the years including; Owens Illinois, Hartman’s Tasty Freeze, Colwell’s Campground, the 5 & 10 Store in Clarion and Carl and Don Studios.

On October 13, 1953, Gayle married Clinton Bell who preceded her in death.

Gayle was a member of the Bi-County Art Association and the Providence Church on the Ridge where she taught Sunday School and Bible School and helped with dinners at the church.  She enjoyed oil painting, crafts, writing poetry, animals, crossword puzzles, board games, puzzles, antique furniture and depression glassware and loved spending time with her family.

Gayle is survived by her children Cary Bell of Knox, Kelly Mattern of Bolton, CT, and Charles Bell of Knox; her grandchildren Amanda Bell of Knox, Justin Mattern of South Windsor, CT, Rebecca Guilbeault of Coventry, CT and Brittany Bundy of Shippenville; her great grandchildren Isabella Lieber of Knox, Noah Barr of Shippenville, Evelyn and Arthur Mattern of South Windsor, CT, and Declan and Tanner Guilbeault of Coventry, CT.

Along with her husband and parents Gayle was preceded in death by a son Matthew Bell, a daughter Lisa Bundy, a brother Duane Texter, a sister Doris Macormac, two nephews Chris Myers and Keith Miller, two nieces Sherry Texter and Kathy Silvis and her father and mother in law Clint and Ina Bell.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Providence Church on the Ridge, 245 Providence Church Rd, Knox with Pastor Bud Welton officiating.  Interment will follow in the Providence Church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family asks memorial donation be made to the Providence Church on the Ridge, 245 Providence Church Rd, Knox PA 16232.
