Joan Lois (Klingler) Rowe

Joan Lois Meier Rowe, 90 of Knox, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2025 at the Shippenville Healthcare and Rehab Center following a period of declining health.

Born on February 18, 1934, Joan was the daughter of the late Wiley and Violet Klingler.

Joan graduated from Salem High School.  She worked at Kings Drug Store in Knox, drove school bus for Keystone School District and was a founding member and volunteer of the Knox Area Volunteer Ambulance Company.

On June 27, 1953, Joan married Robert Meier who preceded her in death in June of 1994.  She then married Carl C. Rowe on February 20, 1999 who preceded her in death in May of 2021.

Joan enjoyed hunting, fishing, family vacations to Canada and the Beach, teaching her boys to hunt and bird watching with Carl.  Joan also enjoyed entertaining with her sister Imy as Charlie and Suzabell Ticklebush from Pilgrimham.

Joan is survived by her sons Wayne Meier of Knox, Michael Meier and his wife Brenda of Durham, NC, John Meier and his wife Sue of Summerville;a step daughter Emily Fulton and her husband Dana of Harrisburg; 9 grandchildren Jason Meier and his wife Brandi of Titusville, FL, Wade Meier or Knox, Ashley Meier of Allison Park, Krista Kroeger and her husband Tanner of Falls Church, VA, Jaime Porter and her husband Scott of Wilmington, NC, Selina Berg of Dubois, Jason Conley of Leeper, Tara Hoover of Cranberry and Robert Burns of Sligo and twelve great grandchildren.  Also surviving are four sisters in law Reba Klingler of Knox, Nancy Elder of Snydersburg, Linda Wagner of Knox, Sue Meier of Knox; a brother in law Ray hartzell of Saint Simons Island, GA, several nieces and nephews and a special friend Barb Buzard.

 Along with her husbands and parents Joan was preceded in death by two brothers Stanley “Bub” Klingler and Wayne Klingler and a sister Imogene “Imy” Hartzell.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, February 13, at the McEntire-Weaver Funeral Home Inc, 504 East Penn Ave, Knox.  Funeral services will be held at 11 am Friday, February 14th in the funeral home with Pastor Doug Dyson of the Salem Lutheran Church officiating.  Interment will take place at Sunset Hill Memorial Park in Seneca.

The family would like to thank the nurses and aides at the Clareview Nursing Home and the Shippenville Healthcare and Rehab Center for taking great care of their mom.
