Linda Sue Wagner, 79, of Knox, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Thursday, May 7, 2026 following a period of declining health; during which time she was showered with love and care from her family and friends.
Linda was born on March 12, 1947 and raised on her grandparents’ (Jacob and Louisa Meier) farm in Knox. She lived on the farm until her passing. She was the daughter of the late Ernest and Margaret (Detweiller) Myer.
She graduated from Keystone High School in 1965. She worked for Fred and Ruby Mays at Knox Auto Supply Inc. for 25 years and retired in 2013.
Linda married Richard Wagner on August 26, 1966. They were married for almost 59 years before Richard preceded her death on July 19, 2025.
Linda was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Shippenville for much of her life. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, was church secretary and served on church council. She later transferred her membership to Grace Evangelical Congregational Church in Ninevah. Prior to her passing she attended Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church in Knox.
Lindas greatest joy was spending time with her family and being on the farm. She enjoyed being outside, tending to her flowers, mowing the grass playing games and watching Hallmark movies.
Linda is survived by her three children: Larry Wagner of Shippenville, Julia “Julie” VanTassel and her husband, Dwayne of Knox, Melinda Lukers of Mount Airy, GA; as well as a former son-in-law: Jeremiah Lukers.
Also surviving our four grandchildren, whom she was very proud of: Audrianna VanTassel of Follansbee, WV, Brianna Gutonski and her husband, Nate, of Knox, Jackson Lukers of Oahu, HI, and Savannah Lukers of Mount Airy, GA; two great grandchildren, Ella and Noah Gutonski.
She is also survived by a sister, Nancy Elder and her husband, Raymond; a sister-in-law, Eleanor, “Sue” Meier, and many nieces and nephews.
Along with her husband and parents, Linda was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Dittman, her Brothers; Gerald, Robert, Donald and Kenneth Meier; her in-laws James and Kathryn Wagner, a special man (her stepfather), Raymond Switzer, brother-in-law, Neil Dittman, George Eisenman and Carl Rowe and sister-in-law, Melba, Freda, Joan, and Betty.
A memorial service and luncheon will be held at 11 AM on Saturday May 30, 2026, at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church in Knox with Reverend Gene A Lenk II officiating.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the McEntire-Weaver Funeral Home Inc. of Knox.
