Mary Ellen Alden Miller, 90, of Knox, went to be with the Lord October 31, 2018, at the Shippenville Healthcare & Rehab Center surrounded by her family.
Mary was born March 27, 1928, she was the daughter of the late William & Flora Alden.
Mary attended Ashland School and graduated in 1947. She was an active cheer leader.
On August 20, 1948, Mary was married to Cleon Miller who she celebrated 70 years of marriage with.
Mary’s husband’s job moved them to Marion IN, Danielson CT and Linden MI all within 36 months. While in Michigan she was active in Lake Fenton U.M. Church and served on various committees. Mary would make coffee after church for many years. She and her husband attended the church for 22 years and had a great fellowship with the pastor and his wife.
Mary was a loving wife with a heart of gold. Anyone coming to her house always were given something to eat and drink. She loved her flower gardens and loved to cook.
Mary was blessed with two wonderful children, a son Brandt who is married to Roxanne Knight and a daughter Linda who is married to John Dee Baker. She was blessed with one grandson Paul Miller and his companion Stacey and a great grandson Bryan. Mary is survived by her husband, a sister Louise Franklin and a brother Ralph “Skip” Alden and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her brothers and sister Leonard, Archie, Harry, Sylvester, Effie, Rose, Jennifer and Lu.
Per Mary’s wishes there will be no viewing. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 am on Saturday, November 24 at the McEntire-Weaver Funeral Home, Inc., 504 E. Penn St., Knox.. A memorial service will be held at 11 in the funeral home with Pastor Wade Barto of the Knox United Methodist Church officiating.
