Merlyn “Bus” L. Corbett, 84, of Knox passed away at home on Saturday, November 1, 2025, following an extended illness.
Born on July 21, 1941, in Brookville, Merlyn was the son of the late Howard and Harriet Carrier Corbett.
Merlyn graduated from Keystone High School. He then served four years in the Navy on a special weapons team and doing underwater demolition. After serving in the Navy Merlyn worked as a contractor until his retirement.
On August 12, 1965, Merlyn married Judith Turner who survives.
Merlyn like to fish and hunt elk and deer. He was a loving father, devoted husband to the love of his life, Judith; a proud Pap and Grandpap. He enjoyed making candy at Christmas time, he was known as the “candyman” and known for being a green thumb gardener.
Merlyn is survived by his wife Judith, a daughter Michele Hartzell; his grandchildren Shelby (Colin) Hartzell and Nicole (Robert) Pearce; his great grandchildren Eleanor White, Junior Pearce, Toby Pearce and Madelyn Pearce all of Knox; a sister Lois Passanisi of Oil City; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents Merlyn was preceded in death by a daughter Tobie Ann Corbett, an infant brother Ralph Corbett and a sister and her husband Virginia and Jim Stover.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 PM on Tuesday, November 4, and from 10 to 11 AM on Wednesday at the McEntire-Weaver Funeral Home, 504 East Penn Ave, Knox. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday in the funeral home with Pastor Gene Lenk officiating. Interment will take place at the Bethel Cemetery in Franklin.
In lieu of flowers the family asks memorial donation be made to the Clarion Forest VNA, 271 Perkins Road, Clarion PA 16214.
