Nancy Clark Obituary

Nancy M. Clark, age 67, of Shippenville, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on May 27, 2024 at UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA following an extended illness.

She was born in Pittsburgh on April 29, 1957, daughter of Richard and Jane Thorhauer (Cochran).  Nancy was a 1975 graduate of AC Valley High School.  She is survived by her husband Robert L. Clark  who she married on April 6, 1979 in Clarion, Pa.

Nancy loved crafting, especially sewing and crocheting.  She had a gift for creating beautiful afghans and one of her greatest joys was giving them to people she cared about.  She even gave her cherished blankets to the doctors and nurses in Pittsburgh to show her appreciation for the care they provided to her.

She was a devoted stay-at-home mom for many years, but also worked in places where she could share her talents of sewing and love of crafting at times through the years, and to help support the family too.  Nothing made her happier than when all of the family could be together and she could spend time with her children and grandchildren.  She had many happy memories of camping together with family over the years.  Even on her toughest days, she had a positive attitude and could find the good in any situation.  She was generally happy and cheerful but was a world-class expert at giving dirty looks when she disapproved of someone’s behavior or attitude.  She was a member of and enjoyed volunteering with the Post 720 American Legion Auxiliary in Knox.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her beloved stepdaughter Susan Fine and her husband Mike of Palm Coast, Florida, her son James Clark and his wife Angela of Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, her daughter Kate Whiteside and her husband Brian of Hagerstown, Maryland, and her daughter Sarah Mothersbaugh and her husband Nick, of Centre Hall, Pennsylvania.  She is survived by 13 grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Mike, Jake, Amanda, Colton, Kaden, Gavin, Raelynn, Trent, Brooke, Jack, Kylie, and Dylan.  She is also survived by sisters, Jo Ellen Shepherd (Ed) of Bemus Point, New York, her sister Mary Jane Tyler (Tom) of Shippenville, Pennsylvania, and June Thorhauer (Tom Beary) of Clarion, Pennsylvania.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Jane Thorhauer; brother Richard “Dicky” Thorhauer, stepson, David Clark, and infant twin grandsons Alan and Blake Mothersbaugh.

At her request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private burial will occur at Scrubgrass Cemetery. McEntire-Weaver Funeral Home in Knox is handling the arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to her favorite charity Family House in Pittsburgh (familyhouse.org).
