Nancy Reed, 91, of Knox passed away on Monday, July 29, 2024 at the UPMC Northwest Hospital in Seneca following a brief illness.
Born February 14, 1933, in Harrisville, Nancy was the daughter of the late Arthur and Helen Brenneman.
Nancy graduated from Harrisville High School in 1951. She worked at Hughes Ice Cream Shop, Pioneer Drive-In Theater in Butler and the Bank in Harrisville. After getting married she moved to Knox and worked for the First National Bank, Mellon Bank, and Farmers Bank and was co-owner of the Carriage Inn.
On November 26, 1953 she married Robert J. Reed who preceded her in death in 2001.
Nancy was a member of the Edenburg Presbyterian Church where she was an Elder, Decan and treasurer of the Woman’s Assoc. She enjoyed watching all sports, especially her children and grandchildren and the Pirates. She loved reading and watching game shows and loved her church.
Nancy is survived by her children Robert “Rob” Reed and his wife Robbi of Manteo, NC, David Reed of Minerva, OH, Mark Reed and his wife Jessica of Newcomerstown, OH, and Wendy Greenawalt and her husband Scott of Knox. Also surviving are her grandchildren Brandon (Heather) Reed of Manteo, NC, April (Uriah) Metcalf of Danville, VA, Mitch Reed of Monroeville, OH, Jessie McBride of Pittsburgh, Jamie (Kenny) Curfman of Oil City, Amanda (Michael) Keith of Williamsburg, VA, Brock (Kelci) Reed of Lawrenceville, PA, Colby Reed of Columbus, OH, Layton Greenawalt of Clarion and Gwen (Kyle) Gadley of Knox and great grandchildren Kestral Welch, Conner Ross, Wyatt Reed, Gabe Reed, Jackson Moorefield, Kendall Keith, Landon Keith, Easton Keith, Braydon Reed, Kaylee Reed and Bella Curfman.
Along with her husband and parents Nancy was preceded in death by her daughter Cindy Reed McBride, a son in law Mike McBride and a daughter in law Beth Reed.
The family will received friends from 4 to 6 PM on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at the McEntire-Weaver Funeral Home Inc, 504 East Penn Ave, Knox. Funeral services will be held at 6 PM Wednesday in the funeral home with Pastor Brian Hauser officiating.
