Samuel Francis Wilson, 77, of Mounds Oklahoma, and formerly from Shippenville, PA passed away on August 12, 2025, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK.
Born May 8, 1948, in Brookville Hospital, he was the son of the late John Nelson Wilson and Rosella Margaret Hartle of Shippenville, grandson of Audley Hays Wilson and Mary Stover.
Sam was a Keystone High School graduate; he became an Information Contractor at Verizon Enterprise Solutions in Oklahoma.
On July 24, 1976, Sam married Charlotte Diane Clark. Sam and Diane have a son, John Francis Wilson who has been his chief caregiver.
Sam enjoyed video games, Zelda in particular, collecting coins, working on lawn mowers or tinkering with anything broke, and buying and selling at flea markets.
Sam is survived by his wife, Diane, his son, John and his wife, Christina and two granddaughters: Jordon Taylor Wilson and Harley Ryan Wilson. Sam is also survived by one brother, Raymond “Dewey” Wilson and his wife, Nancy of Strattanville, PA; three sisters: Eleanor “Sue” Meier of Knox, PA, Rose Williams and her husband, David of Murrells Inlet, SC, and Pattie Schmader of Lucinda, PA and a brother-in-law, Max Hurrelbrink of Knox, PA. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Shelli Dawn Honeycut, one brother, Donald “DJ” Wilson and one sister, Mary “Mazee” Hurrelbrink, and two brothers-in law, Kenneth Meier and Gerry Schmader.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 am and a Celebration of Life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at the McEntire-Weaver Funeral Home, 504 East Penn Ave., Knox, with Pastor Ron Hunsberger officiating. Memorial contributions may be given in the name of Sam Wilson to The Wounded Warriors Project. No flowers please since his son, John, will be flying back home after the services.
