Shirley Weaver, 84, of Seneca, passed away on May 23, 2019 at the Hamot Hospital in Erie.
Born May 21, 1935, Shirley was the daughter of the late Chester and Mary Young Switzer.
On May 9, 1958 Shirley married Emil Weaver who passed away in 2006.
Shirley graduated from CL High School. She and her husband owned and operated Weaver Lumber in Seneca and Weaver Gun Shop. After closing their business Shirley worked at the Daffin’s Hallmark Store in Franklin for over 20 years before retiring.
Shirley was a very active member of Grace EC Church. She was the church secretary and taught Sunday School for many years. She was also involved in the Child Evangelism Fellowship where she served as an officer.
Shirley was a great mother and caregiver to her sons. She loved to play board games when she had company, more recently enjoyed playing games on her computer and tending to her house and garden.
Shirley is survived by her son Scott Weaver of Boston and a brother James Switzer of Clarion.
Along with her husband and parents Shirley was preceded in death by a son Doug Weaver, two brothers Arnold Switzer and Chester Switzer Jr., and two sisters Doris Shovestull and Lucy Lillian Switzer.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm Monday at the McEntire-Weaver Funeral Home Inc., 504 East Penn Ave, Knox, and from noon to 1 pm Tuesday at the Grace EC Church, 2561 Grace Church Road, Knox. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Tuesday in the church with Rev. Rick Osberg of Grace EC Church officiating. Interment will follow at the Starr Cemetery in Knox.
