So sorry to hear of Smokes passing. My father, Jim Thompson thought the world of Smoke. Dad always seem to take him under his wing as I am sure he did again when Smoke entered the Gates of Heaven. I remember growing up with Smoke being a big part of our family from going to camp with dad to joining our extended family for Holiday dinners. I will never forget how for so many years Smoke won the Knobby Knees title for Horsethief days. He was so very proud of that title. It has been 24 years since my father passed away so imagine our surprise when Dads face showed up on Smokes Obit. I cant speak for all of us but to mom and I it was comforting, Think of it as a sign that Jim Thompson is letting us know that Smoke is in good hands. RIP Smoke

So many memories of Chuck, Becky and little Lisa. Knox firemen will never be able to fill "Smokey's" spot.

We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Smoke, our friend down the street. He was always willing to help anyone in the neighborhood such as taking the Derrick to a shut-in and many other kindnesses. I once asked him if he would like some cookies. He said, "no". He got the cookies anyway. He was never much for talking about himself! He loved our dog, Cheyenne, and always stopped in to pet her. We didn't know he was in Golden Living! He will be greatly missed by us.

My thoughts and prayers are with Smoke's family (and countless friends)!!! He and I were neighbors in Knox for a short time. Smoke was a good guy, always looking out for those around him and lending a helping hand when needed. RIP Smoke... you will be missed by those who knew and loved you!!!

Sincerest condolences in this time of loss. Smoke was a good friend of mine. He is sorely missed by all his friends at the Rod and Gun club. The sun is shining today, but it's light is dimmed by the tears in my eyes. Fair winds and following seas on your journey my friend. I'll see you again when my work is done and I am called home.

Smoke was a wonderful friend of my family I grew up knowing him and worked with him (at Sportsmans Speedway) I will forever cherish the memories that I have of him. My 2 favorites are a huge party my dad (Gary McCleary) had when I was young. Smoke went in the house and without tripping over anyone, he claimed/slept on the couch. He made sure that nobody else would sleep there. As I grew up, I worked at Sportsmans Speedway. At the age of 10-12 I cleaned the area the day after the races. One day while we were cleaning, Smoke said "let the pretty one get in the front of the truck" and a man jumped in the front with Smoke. LOL May he rest in peace. He will be missed by many!
