Doris J. Rowan, 82 of Shippenville passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2017 surrounded by family, at the Shippenville Healthcare & Rehab Center.
Born November 15, 1934, on the family farm in Pine City, Doris was the daughter of Joseph and Gertrude Rex.
Doris worked at the Knox Bakery, the ASR and Clarion University cafeteria.
Doris attended the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Shippenville.  She enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Sports, especially the Penguins.  She was a great baker whose sugar cookies were famous with family and friends.  She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and having a large garden.
On November 25, 1954, Doris married Norman Rowan who preceded her in death on August 9, 2016.
Doris is survived by two sons Ed Rowan and his wife Dee of Greenwood, AR and Joe Rowan and his wife Karen of Shippenville; three grandchildren Tasha Grafton and her husband Jason of Nashville, TN, Alex Rowan and his fiancé Tina Reed of Monroeville, and Damon Rowan and his wife Amy of Greenwood, AR.  Also surviving are four great grandchildren Nadia Grafton, Xavier Rowan, Iain Rowan and Zane Rowan; a sister Twila Fink and two brothers Ray and Dean Rex.
Along with her husband Doris was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Mae Stover and three brothers Gale, Frank and Paul Rex
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 PM on Thursday and from 10 to 11 AM Friday at the McEntire-Weaver Funeral Home 504 East Penn Ave., Knox.  Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday in the funeral home with pastor Donald Hake officiating.  Interment will follow in Emmanuel Cemetery in Shippenville.
