I'm so sorry for your family's loss. The Bible promises one day that death will be no more (Revelation 21:4) and we can see our loved ones again (John 5:,28,29). I hope this can bring your family some comfort through this difficult time.

Larry,

I am so sorry to hear about Jody's passing. He was such a kind person. My earliest memories of Jody were in elementary school on the playground. I met him on the monkey bars, actually the top of the monkey bars. He was at the very top and as I was approaching the top, I noticed his necklace and its silver pendant hanging down beneath. When I asked him about it, he showed me the red medic alert insignia.

As the years went on, I was pretty much with Jody every day in middle school and then high school choir. He was a bass and sat behind me with a Rag Tag group that had given each other knicknames: Jody's was "BlackTop" presumably because of his black hair.

If Jody saw you at school, and he knew you, he would always say hey, pat you on the shoulder with his hand, and make you feel good. I never heard him say unkind word to anyone. All of my memories of Jody Slater are happy ones.

I left Knox in 1990, and I've really only been back for short amounts of time since then. When I look back on people that impacted my life Jody probably wouldn't have made the list. But in all reality I wish I would've paid more attention to how he lived his life. Alot of the struggles that I have had could have been avoided by doing the things that Jody did daily: working hard, being kind, and loving the Lord. It is a wonderful legacy.

Peace and blessings to you and your family,

Daniel Wynkoop
