Ruby Salvo, 84, of Shippenville passed from this life to the next Sunday June 25, 2017 at the UPMC Hamot Hospital in Erie.

Born January 17, 1933 in Huckleberry Ridge, she was the daughter of Arthur and Elvie Kline Davenport.

Ruby worked at Dick’s Drycleaning, the family business that she started with her husband in 1964.

On Nov. 25, 1962, she married Dick Salvo who preceded her in death in 2011.

Ruby was a woman of great faith.  She enjoyed knitting/crocheting, canning from her garden, family reunions, baking especially her pumpkin pies and chocolate zuchinni cakes, spending time with her family and making her famous popcorn balls.  She was very dedicated to her family and always willing to help others.

Ruby is survived by eight children, Deborah Simcox and her husband Robert of Roby, Mo., Cathy Berderich and her husband Bill of Russellton, Kathy Siverling and her husband Jack of Knox, Tammy Miller and her husband Randy of Shippenville, Steve Hannold of Shippenville, Richard Salvo of Shippenville, Sherri Beichner and her husband Denny of Shippenville, and Kelly Salvo of Clearwater, Fla.

Also surviving are a sister Helen Jean Whitling; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Along with her husband and parents Ruby was preceded in death by a sister Emma Jane Davenport and two brothers Albert and Leroy Davenport.

Private funeral services will be held for the family at the McEntire-Weaver Funeral Home in Knox with the Rev. Carol Brown, pastor of the Manor United Methodist Church of Shippenville officiating.   Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Cranberry.
