Norman E. Rowan, 85, of Shippenville passed away at his home on Tuesday August 9, 2016.


Born August 13, 1930 in Shippenville he was the son of Albert and Clara Wagner Rowan.


Norman worked for Puritan Pottery and the Knox Glass Plant.  He attended the Shippenville Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.  He enjoyed Pirate’s baseball, hunting, his wife’s baking, wathing the Steelers and teasing non Steeler fans.


On November 25, 1954, Norman married Doris Rex who survives.


Along with his wife Norman is survived by two sons Ed Rowan and his wife Dee of Greenwood, AR and Joe Rowan and his wife Karen of Shippenville; three grandchildren Tasha Grafton and her husband Jason of Nashville, TN, Alex Rowan and his fiancé Tina Reed of Monroeville, and Damon Rowan of Greenwood, AR.  Also surviving are four great grandchildren Nadia Grafton, Xavier Rowan, Iain Rowan and Zane Rowan; two sisters Mary Lindquist of Wexford, Dorothy Brickey of Shippenville and a brother Henry Rowan and his wife Janet of Spartansburg.


In addition to his parents Norman was preceded in death by a brother Bill Rowan.


The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 PM on Friday and from 10 to 11 AM Saturday at the McEntire-Weaver Funeral Home 504 East Penn Ave., Knox.  Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday in the funeral home.  Interment will follow in Emmanuel Cemetery in Shippenville.
